Brian, In working for one of the brochure & postcard sending mission providers ;) I must say we're very thankful for Pastors like you who realize what a mission trip is all about and that you're reminding those who might be focused on not so important reasons. To those that come to us to plan their mission trips our first question is "Why do you want to do a mission trip?" or "What is it that you want to accomplish?". Countless times the answer has been, "Well, I was told I have to take the kids on a mission.", or "We've just always done a mission trip.", or "I don't know." It's become a big part of our job to help leaders realize what mission trips are all about because it certainly isn't about swinging a hammer in a location closest to a nice beach.

my hubby thinks we should be friends with everyone that asks us to be... I have disagreed with him because of the reasons you give. Thank you for the logical argument for not 'friending' everyone on the planet. blessings.

I find what's tough for me is when I post encouragement to a friend and one of their 'friends' posts an f-bomb laced diatribe. I usually just delete that person's post and block them (that is actually kind of fun). I DO appreciate your posts, brother. You are led by God's Spirit, Brian. KEEP IT UP :o)!!!

God is speaking Loud and clear here! Glad I took the time to listen and it is exactly what our message at church backed up today. In order not to be conformed to this world but be transformed in our thinking (Romans 12:2), we MUST spend time with God! If we don't spend time with Him, eventually we will be conformed into what the world is feeding us. As my mother used to say, " Garbage in garbage out." Are you only getting the garbage of the world In? Your life can't reflect Jesus Christ if you aren't spending any time in his Word. Our Pastor challenged us to take a 3 day media fast and a 20 minute a day devotional time. I now extend this challenge to you. See if you notice the change in your attitude, and how you are coping with life.
