Distractions: For Girls Only! – Why do we crave boys attention?
X2J Crew member Janel Weyant shares her heart and personal reflections on how guys, dating and a girls need for a boyfriend can be a distraction to THE Cause.
Deuteronomy 5:10 - But I lavish My love on those who love Me and obey My commands, even for a thousand generations.
This article is for girls only! No boys!
Why is it girls crave boys attention so much? Why do we always have to be on the look out for a guy to be with? Why do we need them? Why do we need them more then God? Isn’t God enough?
Some of our excuses can be ‘Well God isn’t here. He can’t cuddle me like a boy can’ or ‘But he loves me and we’re good together’ or the most famous one ‘Because everyone else has one’ Why do we have to go along with society? Because the world demands it.
God can’t cuddle us in person, He can’t take you to the movies and He can’t buy you the most expensive gift. But he already gave you the best gift. His love. His love for us is so strong! Look around you, this earth is for you! That is only a pin prick of how much He loves you! So why do we need a guy to show that through gifts or by putting his arm around you? Because I guess that’s our downfall.
I’m openly admitting I’ve had times where I just want a boyfriend. Mostly because my friends have boyfriends or maybe their getting married. But that isn’t a reason to jump into a relationship with a guy you barely know or not sure how much you like them. A wise woman told me that there’s only two ways a relationship with a guy can go. 1. You fall madly in love and get married and happily ever after. Or 2. Heartache.
I’ve been through heartache and it’s not a good feeling. I don’t ever want to have that again. I don’t know about anyone else but who would want those feelings? Not me!
Dating is a way to get to know someone. Find out if you can get along and are good together. If not, most likely there won’t be another date. But if you do, a next date will come. God wants us to find that special person but He doesn’t want you to put that guy in front of Him. Don’t jump into a relationship ‘just because’. Take your time getting to know a guy. There’s no rush to get married.
What I’m trying to say is God loves you. He has a heart for girls. For us. He wants us to be happy but not by spending all your time with a boy instead of Him. When you meet a guy you really like ask God ‘is this the man you have for me?’ if not, move on. Don’t waste your time or his time. If we’re craving and seeking the attention of guys all the time we’ll become distracted to living THE Cause and exposing others to Jesus. GIRLS! Don’t allow a guy to distract you from your first and greatest love…Jesus!
God is amazing, He’ll give you what you need in life. But don’t forget girls, He loves you with all His heart.
1 Corinthians 13:8 - “Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!”
