Beyond the 1 Month Challenge

The A.O. G. has launched a project to encourage students to carry their Bible everywhere they go all the time for one month. And while this challenge can be done anytime of the year, they have launched it for the month of September to coincide with the beginning of the new school year and SYATP (See You At The Pole). Great idea!

But the A.O.G. is not only encouraging students to take the challenge for one month they are also pushing for students to take their bible everywhere ALL the time beyond the 1 Month Challenge. “Keep carrying your Bible and look into opportunities to show and share the love of Christ”

We Won’t Be Silent

“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” – Romans 1:16

Carrying their Bibles around with them will create conversations with friends and family giving your students the opportunity to witness that they would not normally have. Second, it forces your students to think twice about watching, saying, or doing something they shouldn’t when their Bibles are right there beside them. Some of your students may only perform SOME of the challenge, or just simply forget their Bibles on certain days. Guess what? It’s ok! Encourage them to do their best and remember… We Won’t Be Silent!

As I read more about this challenge I began to think:

- How can this challenge impact our youth ministries as a whole?

- What if the whole church (adults, leaders, etc) took the challenge along with the students?

- What kind of conversations will be started when our students start showing up to school everyday with their bible under their arms?

- How will the students be impacted spiritually?

But…what would happen if students not only took the challenge to carry their bibles but also cracked it open wherever they go to read and share it? At the lunch table in school, a local Starbuck’s, on the bus, in study hall, in the locker room before practice, and on the bleachers before a football game.
